Gladiator Softball Opens Season with Momentum

The Johns Creek High School Lady Glads are still in the opening chapter of the 2026 softball season, and they have laid a strong foundation, with a great blend of veteran experience and rising talent.

Led by coach Jim Ernst and assistant coach Jeno Marvel, the JCHS softball lineup includes Claire Dennis, Reese Stiltner, Addie Grindle, Swara Khatri, Avery Huffman, Isla Wells, and Zelda Arthur with a deep bench of sophomores and freshmen strengthen the roster.

As of mid-August, the Creek had a 5-2 record, earning wins over Centennial, Peachtree Ridge, Coahulla Creek, North Atlanta, and Collins Hill. Several of these wins showcased clutch performances as the Lady Gladiators secured one-run wins over both Centennial and Peachtree Ridge before delivering a remarkable performance in an 8-0 shutout versus Collins Hill on August 12.

Individual performances have sparked the season. Senior Zelda Arthur is one of the team's stats leaders with a strong batting average, on-base percentage, runs scored, and stolen bases. Sophomore Uma Pittman leads the team in earned run average so far. 

In addition to individual performance, the team shows the power of balance. Younger players like Haley Brown, Collins Freret, Celia Mackin, Audrey Lafon, Allie Lafon, Ella Grindle, Hayden Kennedy, Sydney Laun, and Uma Pittman compliment the expertise of the more experienced players.

The next phase of the season will bring regions, with matchups against Roswell, Gainesville, Milton, Riverwood, and Lanier. These games will give the Glads opportunities to build on early season momentum.

With experienced leadership and emerging talent, the Gladiators have positioned themselves for an exciting season.
